Once my 14 Pro Max was finished with the transfer from my 13 Pro Max, it rebooted to a black screen. There was no way to turn it on with the power button, connecting it to a charger produced the same result. I decided to do a force reset, volume up, volume down, and hold the power button. Sure enough, that fixed the dark black screen that was powered on the whole time but pitch black.

Same thing happened to me. Had used the new iPhone 14 Pro Max about 5 days then noticed screen was black. The hard reset fixed it though. Hope this gets fixed in an iOS update

Same issue here. woke up this morning to a completely dead iPhone. I’d tried force resetting it by holding power and volume and nothing happened. Was about to make the inconvenient pilgrimage to an Apple store to get replaced. But this forum got me out of a pickle!

many thanks all, hopefully apple can fix ASAP and help others avoid this very stressful process.

This actually happened to me with an iPad Air 4 last year. Would not turn on out of the box and had to do a hard reset. That was the first time I ever had an Apple product fail right out the gate (though it never happened again, thankfully).
