Recieved my Tom Bihn Brain Cell today, for the computer I have not yet recieved.

Initial Impressions:
Solid Construction
Corners nice and hard
Bottom Padded
Soft inner lining

Basically it's a soft case with hard sides really well built.

Overall this seems like a really good case to protect my new 15", but I plan I getting an ID Bag from Bihn soon to pair with the Brain Cell.

Cool, I ordered the brain cell too along with their Courier messenger bag. How long did it take to get to you? Mine shipped today and it's coming to the east coast.

Why would the monolith and the braincell be for different carrying methods? I know they load differently, but I'm guessing that's the only difference, and I'm not sure how that would disqualify carrying it one way or the other.

I believe it's the way that they're padded - the Brain Cell is optimized for carrying landscape (protecting the bottom maybe?) and the Monolith for portrait. I read that somewhere but I can't remember where it was.

Waterfield Large Cargo + Sleevecase is the only way to go in my opinion. Nothing touches these bags for durability, style, design, useability, and customer service. Its like my TiBook is inside a semi-soft, sexy, padded Abrahms Tank. I got my bag literally 18 hours after i placed my order using 2 day shipping (apparently it was faster than 2 days) across the country from California to Rhode Island. gary & team are great to deal with and the bag is just freakin aewsome.

I just received the Courier Messenger bag and BrainCell from Tom Bihn. A smart buy I tell you. I was a bit worried from ordering online and not physically inspecting the bag in person before purchasing... no worries I tell you. The BrainCell is awesome and the bag is perfect with it. It's very comfortable to wear over the shoulder too. My last bag dug into my shoulders, this one is great.

Whatever you get, go the extra mile and get something with a waterproof/resistant layer. I ordered a Timbuk2 laptop bag. Trust me, one day it will more than pay for itself. I have been caught out on campus in the rain before without an umbrella (slaps forehead) and it has saved my powerbook's life.

My PowerBook G3 has been through two hurricanes that ripped the roof partially off my house and one major flood and it is still working perfectly. I know it is bad to get them wet, but even if they do, they are not always going to be dead. I am always amazed by how resilient these machines are.
