I like the size of the 15inch. You won't talk me in to the 17inch.

Here are the questions:

Is the faster processor really worth the money?

Do I upgrade the RAM through Apple? Or is it still easier and cheaper to do it myself later? (Its been a while since I bought a new computer)

I assume the SSD is worth it?

Most importantly- HiRes Glossy or HiRes AntiGlare- and WHY.

Thanks!

1. Depends on your usage.
2. Use third party ram.
3. Yes, but again, based on your uses.
4. It's subjective. Neither is "better" than the other.

Good grief...

Use it for batch processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. Movies. Web Browsing.

Does that help with the "Depends on your usage"? :p

Trying to gauge whether its worth the money to upgrade.

I prefer the AG myself, especially outside. Both the Glossy and AG are now though.

What sort of irregular usage would require the upgrades?

Virtualization that needs more than 4GB of RAM, heavily threaded applications that require extra horse power from the CPU (or heavy video encoding that benefits from higher clocked CPUs), data intensive applications that need fast data transfer and security from the storage drive.

such as...

I assume you're trying to make the point that Lightroom and Photoshop aren't threaded or data intensive?

such as 3d software. Sure more memory will make Photoshop faster - especially if you are working on very large files, but 3d software can cripple an under powered machine
