Whoa~ Its $1599 at my local microcenter. Wow thats an awesome deal. I wished they had the antiglare versions though.

They have the antiglare models! I think I'm going to go pick one up lol and sell my 13".

I just picked up the 2.8GHz 17" macbook pro (antiglare model) for $1599 at my local microcenter. No dead/stuck pixels, awesome display (imo this 17" has a better display than the i7 17" hi resolution that I sold off a month ago!) and the speakers are freakin loud and clear!

I decided to sell my 13" as I hate the glossy display and it was just too small for me! Other wise it was a nice little notebook (speed was fast, the nvidia 320m). Well there's 2 more 17" 2.8GHz antiglare models left at my local microcenter! It is a great deal!!!

So why did you sell the i7 and get a c2d?

That is ridiculously a good deal. $1599 here.
Antiglare doesn't even cost more. Amazing deals, microcenter. Don't tell apple or you'll get your distribution rights revoked.

Not even close to the i5 in my opinion. i5 is a rocket. Doesn't mean C2D in the 2009 isn't fast. It is plenty fast.

At the time I sold my i7 to use half the money to buy a new projector. Now that the 17" 2.8GHz model is affordable, I sprung for it as I wanted the louder speakers, bigger screen realestate.

I can sell my 13" for the price I paid for it (pretty much get my money back) so it works out well for me.

So far the 2.8GHz core 2 duo 17" macbook pro seems to be a tad slower than the 2.66GHz i7 model that I had but in normal everyday usage, I dont notice much of a difference if any at all.
