hello i am new to the mac community and the forum. I received my new 2011 MBP i5 13" today as a gift and i love it so far. The only problem is it has to be plugged in all the time and it shuts off if the adapter gets unplugged. It is also telling me that the battery is not charging but also says it is 83% charged. I tried searching about the problem but cant find a solution. Do you think this is a factory issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just tried that...no luck. I Hope apple can resolve the issue without a repair time. I waited so long to get it and id hate to have to wait even more

At least you're going to get rid of a faulty battery. I felt the same way when my 2011 MBP just stopped working... Next thing I knew, the logic board and battery needed to be replaced after two weeks of using it.

Now its running strong... So far. :)

If its less than 14days old take it back and ask for another one some are faulty from the factory it doesn't matter how much u fix they keep breaking piece after piece.

just got back from the store and got a brand new one which im typing from now :)
