Less than one hour ago, I opened my new i7 2.6 / 32TB / 2TB / VEGA20 out of the box and it smelled a little funky on the top cover. I ignored it and was about to type in my apple id for the first time and noticed two dents in the front of the lower part of the chassis. Upon closer inspection I noticed that one dent had some black filler filled in and the other was a scrape in to the chassis. On the rear side there was some glue residue. Definitely the assembling quality is not the same as my 2016 mb pro that I got from the Apple refurbished store. I was eager to use this machine and transfer my data, but I just didn't even bother signing in. I am taking it back to the apple store tomorrow to get this machine exchanged. The box was in undamaged condition, so this is definitely a QC issue wherever they are assembling these. Seems like someone dropped it hard on the assembly table and didn't bother telling their boss they messed up. Has anyone else heard of something like this happening.
