I need some advice, please. I intend to purchase an iPad Pro at the high end of the spec. Should I purchase now or wait until later in the year [September?] for a newer/snazzier model? Can anyone clarify what's best to do?

All that’s coming later in the year is 5G model and 14x chip. No other differences...

So unless 5G is important buy this one

None of this is certain - with the coronavirus outbreak and rumours of the 5G iPhone possibly or possibly not being delayed, I wouldn’t absolutely bank on a 5G iPad in 2020.

To the OP: it was literally refreshed a couple of days ago, if you need one now, I think this is as good a time as any to buy one. iPad Pros seem to be updated on an ~18 month cycle. Of course, there’s no guarantee that will hold in the future and it’s entirely possible we do see a 5G iPad this year. But it’s also entirely possible that we don’t. I personally wouldn’t want to hold out for 6 months+ based on a rumour.

Get it.

Your new iPad Pro will still be very powerful abd able to do whatever the next iPad Pro can do. Even the 2018 iPad Pro is still extremely powerful by today's standards.

The only “rumor” that would make it “worth waiting” is the one about mini oled.
The iPad Pro can already handle everything that’s thrown at it... we would’ve seen a new chip if it could not.
