what brands are the 640's coming out. I want the western digital 500gb 7200 but it seems like..there won't be one out anytime soon.

I currently have the 200 gb 7200.. with 15gb free on it.. it's running freakin slow.. will i see a big upgrade? if i upgrade

Don't know about the Seagate, but when you compare WD vs. WD:

The 320gb 7200rpm drive is older (lower density per platter which translates into lower theoretical read/write speeds) and yet it scores ~15% better in application benchmarks like PCMark Vantage or the IOMeter workstation pattern.

Yeah, I know that SOME 7200rpm drives are faster but not ALL THE TIME. That's what I'm trying to say. So generalizing that 7200rpm drives are faster all the time is a misconstrued fact. Cheers! :)

Yes you will, with that little space left your drive is probably almost 30% slower than it would be with 60GB+ free!

I'm holding out for the 7200 rpm WD Black 640 GB. Some time in 1H 2010 is when it'll probably be released.
