So I finally received what I think is a wonderful addition to my collection and something that I wasn't even sure I wanted.:oops:

Pismo with 550/g4 upgrade, SSD, maxed RAM and the optional brighter LCD. Super quick. My first Power Mac G3 :apple:

Edit-Couldn't resist taking a picture with its stablemate 15 years younger. Both topline machines :D

Brilliant! I bet it runs well. What kind of copy speeds are you getting with the SSD?

Just ran xbench. Do you have a recommended application for that?

Super snappy feels like a 1.67 G4 with HDD
[doublepost=1503615890][/doublepost]Geekbench results for anyone interested.

That'll do it. The 256K reads are practically maxing out the ATA/66 bus.

Is it a Kingpsec IDE SSD or a Kingspec mSATA card in an adapter?

I'm going to order another couple of 32GB Kingspec mSATA cards, but I'm not keen on the price of the PATA to mSATA adapters, I've bought two of the quality red Lindy caddies, but they've cost me $AU 45 each. This is the cheapest I've found, shipped from Poland.

It's the PATA version. I would've gone with an MSATA but this one was just lying around. Going to upgrade to something bigger in a few months. SSD is 100% worth it

True :D Now I'm actively looking for a blue and white G3 :eek:
Amazing how those have dried up on the eBay the last couple years. They used to be a dime a dozen. My first New World ROM Mac was the B&W G3 back in 2003. I lusted over those for the longest time and screamed like a school girl the day UPS left it on the porch lol.

Tell me about it. It seems like they are either thrown out, recycled or ridiculously overpriced. Unfortunately I don't get lucky with the thrift stores or local schools ike some people have.

I too am amazed how difficult it is to find a good serviceable Blue&white G3. Don't have one, but would love one to add to my collection. The downside would be that - unlike a smallish laptop - it would be rapidly noticed & remarked upon by the little lady, which could be life-threatening - especially at the moment. If one came along I just couldn't resist, but would have to give some serious thoughts about reviewing my life insurance.....:eek:

Yes, just noticed that France seems to be a desert for those. Most offers seem to be from Italy or Hungary. The cheapest is €60.

Last year, someone near to a friend of mine in NW England tried to get rid of two B&Ws and the offer for both on eBay for £5 went around for months until he finally dumped them. There are plenty around still but the prices have gone up. Must be a lot of nostalgics/collectors as the B&W wasn't Apple's most stable offering.
