New adium beta...

This isn't a tracking website. People posted about the parallels beta. This is a forum, for people to discuss, not a download link. People may want to know about stability issues etc...
I did install it actually, and it gave me an error while unpacking.. I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow when I get "real" internet back, but I noticed that it uses a different library for connecting to AIM and .mac, and I didn't know why.. although I sure hope the lib works better than what they're using now!
The new Adium beta is working fine for me, except it's not showing my Avatar in my chats. It is showing everyone else's.
Is it the same adium beta 3.0 that's been out?

updating now... I wonder why they switched back? AIM has been working perfectly for me especially with file transfers...I hope this update doesn't break file transfers 
Is it me or does it now show all the info that it once did when you hover over screen names on the list? (ie: online time, etc)
Hovering is working fine for me, that's one of my favorite features
Not so much for me, maybe I have to appzapp metal adium to have it work? who knows......
If iChat incorporated this feature I'd be using iChat.
It's always hard for me to upgrades software when it works already...

There is no "Adium 3.0 beta"... the new beta is 1.0b16.
You mean from joscar to libgaim? The devs on the Adium Beta forum said it was something to do with a crappy java-objc bridge in Xcode. But apparently they're using a much improved version of libgaim anyway.I wonder why they switched back? There are some issues with AIM in the new beta. I'm not seeing contact's avatars anymore, plus Online since, Idle since, and Mobile status are broken (but will be fixed soon enough I hear).

I used the built in updater and it doesn't show it for me. I do get avatars though.
the built-in updater kept telling me I had the up to date version until i went to that link. it shows me the idle time when i put my mouse over it. not a big deal.
Switching back from joscar to libgaim was a terribly difficult decision; The java bridge was causing rare random crashes, and didn't work at all on 10.5, so we didn't have much choice. We're still cleaning up the fallout from the switch though, so some broken bits are expected. As you saw, idle time got hooked up again in 17, and I've been having testers gathering data on file transfer and direct IM behavior so that we can get that back up to where it was (or better possibly! Direct IM has been extremely reliable for me recently).
Although I agree fully about the Audio and Video, I do think thats the only thing its lacking. However, the lack is AV support is not down to the Adium Dev Team at all...
