Bought a new, 8gb RAM, 256gb HD, Air 13 from Best Buy yesterday for $999. One day sale, I think. Heck of a deal. Got home and plugged in the serial number on Apple's website and found out the build date on my new Air is "Early 2015." Kinda bummed me out. Looks like Best Buy sold me a computer that's already 1.5 years old. Guess it's been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a while. Anyway, I figured with the "new" 8gb standard memory for 2016, I'd get an Air with a build date of "Early 2016." So now I have a dilemma. Should I keep the computer and not worry about it? Or should I exchange it for another one and hope for a later build date? Or, are they all going to have a build date of Early 2015? What happens when I go to sell it someday, will the build date affect what I can get for it? Love to get some opinions on this situation. Thanks!

Is that the build date or the reference to the type of Mac it is? The current MacBook Airs haven't been updated in a long time, and are referred to as Early 2015 models. There is some doubt if they even will see an update.

I wouldn't think it would matter. The current MBA's are referred to as "early 2015", and have the same model code of A1466.

Heckuva deal, build date doesn't matter. Enjoy your 1 year of included apple care and have fun using your new machine!!

You are misunderstanding something. When your machine has 8GB RAM it definitely wasn't built in 2015 unless it is a returned CTO model. 8GB RAM as a standard for the 13" model were implemented on 19 April 2016. Anyways, the most recent MB Air is referred to as Early 2015 because there were no major changes at all since its release. (CPU/GPU etc.)
