I wouldn't rule out the Monday or Tuesday after, together with 10.11.2.
What makes you think that? I mean, I too was hoping for a year end release, but is it even reasonable to still expect one at this point, especially in December? Apple has never released a device this close to Christmas.

Black Friday is obviously when prices go down. It would be a good chance to get rid of inventory. Also, Dutch resellers have been dropping prices (we don't do Black Friday) on basic models, and the non-4/128 models have been slowly disappearing. Plus there are rumours all over the web – obviously as long as Reliable And Well Informed Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo doesn't say anything those rumours are probably false – about imminent refresh. So my thinking, based on nothing really, is that either they'll do a refresh/end the Air line in the coming days, or do so next Spring.

That gets me wondering. How long do Apple products usually get discounted before Apple releases new updates. I mean, a Spring release would mean 4-5 months of discounts. Is that usually how it works?

I have no idea – this is the first time I've been checking those things, and even that mostly because the reseller I was going to use (5 years of warranty for 54 euro...) stopped selling the 8/128 13" Air the day before I decided to buy one. :p Overnight they went from "all models available" into "4/128 and nothing else".

A large reseller here has Airs and Pros (and Minis and iMacs) on discount (with a store-voucher on top).
There's something coming...

Christmas is coming. That's why the Air's and Pro's are on discount. Who's going to buy from a place that isn't having a sale when there are so many other places that are?

Christmas is the time to clear out inventory to make room for the new models that will be out some time in Feb or Mar with the new 6th gen Intel processors.

Not happening. That's not how Apple does things.
