New Airbuds will not connect to MacBook Air 2018

Cannot get my new earbuds to connect over bluetooth to MBA - despite working properly with I phone xr They do connect then don't hold connection and disconnect again - any help using latest software on both phone and MBA

Hi all
Got connected now after a lot of trying and disconnections Both I phone and MacBook Air connecting now however MacBook Air does not connect in background as I need to click connect each time - maybe software yet to improve ?
