I'd like to add a new AE to my current network that is run by a last generation TC. I only want to use the TC for backups - I don't need to extend networks or anything like that. So the AE would act as router and wi-fi distributor for the network.

I've read several threads and a I'm confused as to how to accomplish the best setup. Any input or advise would be greatly appreciated - Thanks

To do this start by restoring all AirPorts to factory settings. To do this, hold the power button while plugging the AirPort in until the front light blinks.

Then connect the AirPort Extreme (new) to the modem. Set it up via AirPort Utility. Plug in the Time Capsule and set it to "Join" the network in AirPort Utility. Then remap the Time Machine drive on your Mac and you are done. Report back if you have any questions.
