I was wondering if buying a new airport extreme or time capsule would give me better range/throw than the current airport extreme I have which is from 2007(802.11n). I am looking to get better signal in my home.

technically it should give out a better signal. if you're looking for a cheaper option, maybe getting an airport express to extend your range.

Yes. Ensure that your current Extreme is centrally located in order to get the best signal possible before buying a newer model.
You can also use the new Extreme as your primary and then extend your network with your older one.
