11.6" with 4gb/64gb
wow, basic 11" is $849.
it is a little early to see them showing up ... my guess is people will be returning them for having small SSDs. ... also the 2GB Ram seems low.
it depends on what your intended purpose is. for general day to day stuff, this setup is more than sufficient. i doubt that people who buy the 11" use it for their main computer anyway.
Nice selection. They have the 11" ultimate and also a 13" 1.86/2/256. Good prices too. I ran the numbers though and if you live in CA once you add the tax back in you save between 65 and 80 over going through Macmall no tax/shipping/discount. For a brand new machine. Not worth it for me ..
When they came out, I predicted this. So many couldn't wait and purchased one with less than desired specs (for me, since I plan to use it as a secondary machine, this works out nicely-$849 for the base 11" model is pretty sweet!).
Unfortunately, since it is pretty early to have refurbs, and this many to choose from, other reasons for returning are likely. We'll see...
Only reason this isnt killing me is I live within driving distance of a tax-free state, am a student, and with the new MacBook Airs you can get the printer for free with rebate. Overall it was a wash for me since I would have paid $900 after tax and I ended up paying $900 after I sold the printer for $50.
Remember, too, how many were returned for the wake-from-sleep issue that was addressed with the EFI updates.
Christmas shopping is done. Apple found the best time ever to post these refurbished MBA for sale. 2011 is right around corner. With lion OS coming out in 6 months and MBA might get update in time for WWDC 2011, I am not going to buy another MBA. Also, if you buy these MBA from macmall or amazon, the discount starts to look worse. Yes, I am fine with refurbished MBA, but those discounts are not good enough for me. Too little and too late.
Amazon is good but you can't get the 4gb models. I need to pay tax to macmall and their discounts on the air high end models I believe are pretty small last time I checked.
Several of the 4gb models sold out fairly quickly on the refurb site.
This is a good way to go for many.
No 4gb 13.3" darn.
would buying a refurb not be almost better then buying new,as they would be completely gone over???
im at canadian site and see they have lots of models to choose...
-11" 1.6,4,128 for $1229 vs reg $1449
Was there for 1189 with 128 gb. Sold out
The $1189 is the 11.6" 4Gb with 128Gb SSD model... I don't see Apple offering both for the same $$...and its still in stock for the 11.6"
I disagree. I'm sure there are TONS who bought the base 11 solely for it's coolness factor and price compared to other Macs. It's a solid machine if you're doing just basic stuff and willing to pay the Apple tax.
It was there earlier. The 13.3 inch with 4gb and 128 gb for the same $1189 listed, the lower end processor. Savings of $210. In line with other model savings.
You are probably right about the timing. Apple likes to make new product announcements in January to help offset the post-holiday lull (remember the original iPhone announcement, the original MacBook Air, various iPods and MacBooks). Putting some refurbished models out now might generate some website activity, particularly since Apple doesn't have a December 26th sale.
For those who need MBA to run Windows there is a great alternative. DELL has just dropped the price on Adamo. Now you can buy new 13" ultrathin aluminum Adamo (128GB SSD, 4GB RAM, 2.13 GHz C2D) for just $899. That's almost twice less than MBA 13 with the same CPU and RAM.
similar speced 13" air on refurb site was 1189.....i'll stick with the air
Problem is that's a Dell. Use to be a good company, now just a has been.
Integrated 256 (MB) Intel® GS45 Graphics Media Accelerator
13.4 inch display (1366x768)
Yep, not even in the same league.
Dell is the same they ever were. The problem is they skimp on some specs and offer you a 200$ discount, something Apple would never do except for 30 minutes on Black Friday.
damn, the 1.4 GHz ultimate model, and the basic model arent available as of the writing of this post. im pretty sure theyll be available real soon though.
both were there and have sold out...
I thought I had read that the Adamo was being discontinued, so my first reaction was that this is fire sale pricing. That said, it is interesting to see that it now sports a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, up from the 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo used up until now.
While the Adamo is clearly cheaper, it's a bit misleading to say that it is "twice less" (I assume you mean half as much) as the MBA 13" with the same CPU and RAM. The 2.13GHz Air also has twice the SSD. The fairer comparison is between the base 13" Air upgraded to 4GB and the Adamo. The Adamo clocks in at $500 less, but weighs a pound more, and has only Intel integrated graphics, although it does have eSATA and the faster processor standard.
The Adamo is definitely worth a look for someone considering running only Windows 7. It also has reignited the debate over the "Apple Tax" since it is so much less than the 13" Air. However, the timing seems odd to me. They dropped the price and upgraded the processor after the holiday season.
