Hello there!

Who loves gadgets? What are your favourite gadgets? I’m moving to my new place what are the must have gadgets?

So far, I have chargers, Philips Hue, Eve Room and next I’m getting a TV, speakers and a Dyson fan.

What TV did you buy, @TechRunner ?

I forgot to mention; I’m looking for a Nespresso machine but they are all very noisy. Of course they don’t communicate on the dB level. Anyone happy with a Nespresso machine?

For ice cream lovers - a Ninja Creami ice cream maker. Also great for mixing stuff into ice cream.

Air fryer - Breville air fryer oven. Large tray does a better job. Try air fryer grilled cheese.

Home automation stuff - Ecobee thermostat, Ring doorbells, garage door monitor, keypad deadbolt, irrigation controller that skips watering when rain is forecast, security cameras.

Soda stream - unlike Ted Lasso I like fizzy drinks.

Shark robot vacuum with self emptying base station.

Rock solid network setup, otherwise a lot of this stuff won’t work well.

Motion sensors in rooms like the kitchen, basement, garage and hallways. It's nice to just walk through the house and have the lights flick on and off on their own. Just not rooms you'll sit still for long periods of time or don't want automatic. Like the bedroom, living room and office.

Really? We have three different types of lighting in the kitchen. How would automation know which type of lighting I want.

Individual results may vary. This would depend on what you want. I want a bunch of light in the kitchen when I'm in it. So, it works for me.

I suppose, if you wanted. You could have a large area sensor for when you walk into the kitchen. Then something like a cabinet mounted sensor facing downwards. If you had under mount lights, You just need when using the counters.

I wouldn't see a stovetop one working. As they seem to work by infrared. So, a stovetop in use would effectively blind it. Just my garage on a hot day reduces the sensor sensitivity in my garage.

There's also a wide range of automation. I just have the simple dumb sensor switch kind. I expect there's finer control options you can add to a home automation system. Until home automation will take out the trash, do my dishes and do my laundry. I haven't seen much benefit in going beyond the dumb sensors for general room and passageway lighting. Plus a timer for the porch light which follows sunrise/sunset times for my area.

Hello there!

Which Nespresso machine would you recommend? Something quiet because the Inissia is so loud!

GoSund programmable electric plugs. I originally bought these to have my Christmas lights timed with each other. Now I use them year round. Nice to be able to turn things off and on from anywhere.

I finally got my Dyson, after one month delay! The shipping company "lost it" so I spent many calls with them & Dyson. Dyson customer service was horrible: speaking to agents but they can't do anything. Only their "admin service" can but of course they are not reachable. I received an email about my product in repair and that I should receive a new one...and of course they never answer emails.

Anyway, it's now at home and I just had only 5 minutes to play with it because I needed to go out.

Overall, I have all these gadgets:

Thanks for the chuckle :)
Agreed. We bought a cheap one the first time, and it was...okay. We splurged this time on a Ninja Foodi XL Pro, and it's a vastly different experience.
Definitely the Ninja with Smartlid is the greatest thing. Wipe it down and clean out the pot, and you're ready to go again. And no dropping the stupid pressure lid
