New Apple Display buying advice

What's the current thought on buying a new Apple Display? I know it's been a long time since an update, but that updates are pretty rare for them. I'm interested in a new 23" HD display, to upgrade my old 20" clear plastic apple display that is now running off a ADC to DVI adapter, which is a pain, and I would like the better resolution.

So, anytime soon or don't hold my breath? Any 3rd party screens I should seriously consider in the alternative?

unless you really want the design of apple's screen, i would recommend a dell monitor.
