In a nutshell, my wife and I have separate MacBooks, iPhones, and Apple ID's. I'm tired and frustrated of trying to coordinate all of our stuff - it's too confusing.

So what I'm wondering is if I create a new Apple ID for both of us to share, and we both abandon our current ID's, will we still be able to listen to the music we've both purchased from the iTunes store in the past?

If not, what do you recommend?

Cheers.

The media purchased through iTunes is tied to the specific Apple ID used for the purchase. So, you will lose all previously purchased media if you abandon your current Apple ID's.

Have you tried the Home Sharing feature in iTunes? It help synchronizing Media installed in different machines using iTunes.
