New Apple Music Student Plan subscribers can now receive a free pair of Beats Flex earphones worth $69.99.

apple-music.jpg

The offer, first spotted by Michael Burkhardt on Twitter, has been available since June 22 and allows first-time Apple Music Student Plan subscribers to order a pair of Beats Flex earphones for free after paying for the first month's subscription.

After 30 days of the subscription, eligible students will receive an email from Apple with instructions to order the Beats Flex earphones for free. Subscribers may be given the option to redeem earphones in a color of their choice, but Apple may also send whatever is available depending on stock levels.

The Beats Flex offer is only available in the United States and the United Kingdom, cannot be combined with other Apple Music offers, and cannot be used by anyone who has previously subscribed to Apple Music. The offer is available for a "limited time" with no further details on when it may end. See Apple's terms and conditions for more information.

Many major retailers in the U.S. are dealing with excess inventories right now (as well as lots of returns) and this could be Apple's way of reducing inventory.

Beats Flex are… not great at music playback.

They’re fine for podcasts and other spoken content. I use them that way. The integration with macOS and iOS is also great. But music? Very poor quality.

Wow, they are giving away free stuff and yet everyone is complaining..... what's wrong with some of you people here.
Because they just raised the price of the Apple Music student subscription last month.

Instead of raising the price and then giving away “free” stuff, maybe they should have just left the price alone and simply delivered the service that was being paid for.

They should invest some money and make this software a bit more user friendly and update the entire UX on Mac. This Apple Music is like an Alpha software by some students

Steve would be proud.

So what? So many companies are raising their prices right now and they don’t give you anything for free.

So they raised prices, implying that their costs went up and needed to recoup that cost to remain solvent, and then immediately turned around and started giving away something for “free.”

It’s a slap in the face to anybody who’s paying these inflated prices just so that they can give away something for “free” that nobody asked for.

Just because inflation has pushed overall prices up on many products doesn't mean discounts and special promotions still aren't being used as a way of dealing with competition, inventory, demand changes, etc. Many retailers have still run "sales" during these high inflation periods for the same reasons they would've in lower inflation periods.

I would rather get a $10 gift card to Apple Store
Agree 100%!

Beats Flex are nothing but an unsightly decoy product that serve only to convince you to get AirPods.

The constant rattling of the cord make it impossible to even use them while slowly walking around at home. And you can completely forget running with them. And the sound is muffled and has way too much low-end.

Apple must be sitting on a mountain of Beats Flex that no retailers want to buy and Apple can't sell either.

Even just a $10-$20 discount on any of the true wireless Beats or AirPods would be a much better deal.
