I believe you are also responding to the person who did the mod. @cedricchase

Indeed! Looks like Cedric M. is cedricchase.

It’s me! Tip was dye only. The damaged Pencil is strange, it -tries- to pair but just never succeeds. I’m confident I can safely do this mod without making the same mistake again, the process is pretty tame as far as mods are concerned.
If so, and the color holds up (and doesn’t transfer to hands!) I may hire you to do mine one day! Had the mod affected the feel when filling in with the side of the tip, rather than the point?

It looks great to me—but even better, looks like it has grip to it. I never had any problems with the Apple Pencil 1 regarding grip, but the 2 is slippery for me. Maybe most people have more oil or perspiration in/on their hands or something, but the matte finish makes the new pencil harder for me to hold on to. :/

Well, i actually kinda like it, it looks cool.. I am honestly fine with the off white or the customized one. However, i feel if apple would release a black apple pencil tip then we could use Slickwraps, or a similar company, to get a wrap that allows it to look basically the same. I will agree it is unique and not a bad customization.

The additional grip was one of my primary motivations! It handles much better now, in my opinion.

The finished product looks impressive, and we award Cedric full marks for creativity, although we don't recommend everyone follow these steps since it is still cosmetic damage to the Apple Pencil. For most people, this $6 skin from dbrand is the cheapest and easiest way to make the new Apple Pencil resemble a No. 2 pencil.

The second-generation Apple Pencil magnetically attaches to the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. It also features automatic pairing, wireless charging, tap to wake, double-tap gestures to switch drawing tools, and a more seamless design with no Lightning connector, cap, or chrome ring.
Wow, that looks amazing! Very creative with a lot of attention to detail that no only looks terrific but offers some functionality as well.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's my Pencil 1 with $0.05 of woodgrain Con-Tact paper.:D

Well, the faux No. 4 Pencil look is a novelty. But am I the only one that wants Apple to offer the Pencil in black, or even aluminum like a high quality mechanical pencil?
