The new Apple TV will support HDMI-CEC to control the power, inputs, and volume. http://m.imore.com/how-new-apple-tv-turns-your-tv-switches-inputs-and-controls-volume
Different manufacturers have different names for the same thing, such as Sony's BraviaSync. I happen to have a Sony "entertainment system" that includes HMDI inputs. This unit says it does have BraviaSync. http://community.sony.com/sony/attachments/sony/manuals/69/2/BDVN8100W_mksp.pdf
If the new Apple TV's HDMI is plugged into the Sony system, I am wondering whether the new Apple TV remote would control the system.
I suppose it may depend on how BraviaSync functions on this unit. Anyone know how to test that? I don't really know of others devices that have HDMI-CEC.
