You release a product claiming you can play games and you do not have a solid game? thats bad!! especially for apple's standards
Oceanhorn is as solid as it gets. Your comment failed the moment your brain conceived it... before your fingers typed it.

What exactly has to work with the Siri remote? Every aspect of the game?
Yes. The game has to be playable. The Rayman game for example has Rayman moving automatically if you're using a Siri remote, really awful workaround. But If you use a real controller you can actually play the game the way is suppossed to be played.

lol there were a lot of fireplace apps. It does seem that the early app store is dominated primarily by easier to build apps. Many of these are from smaller developers. They have their uses, but it probably reflects the idea that maybe a lot of outfits needed more time to pull together the resources to build out their apps, but also that maybe a bunch wanted to get a feel for what the market would look like first. Seems wide open to me.

Like the early days of the original app store, tons of fart appso_O

The more I see and hear about the ATV4, looks like I'll be sticking with the 3. If I was 15 or younger again I might be tempted by these kids games but alas I'm not.

I've already requested refunds due to how basic these games are.

Seriously if people requested refunds and sent feedback maybe this will be something changed sooner than later

Who've you complained to? Apple or the game developers?

Why on earth did they not integrate this store with the App Store? I assumed it was, just as they did with Apple Watch. there's no reason not to.

Would be so much easier to buy apps and have them appear automatically on the tv. It's not like they haven't tought of this before: My iPhone apps also appear automatically on my iPad.

Apple, it's their rules all games have to fully support the remote first and foremost. Kiss games like GTA San Andreas native on Apple TV goodbye for the tv until this changes.

This should grow fast. I'm happy to have plex and will play around with implementing that on my NAS today. ATV is looking much better than last week already

Who releases and develops the games? Apple or third parties? And no difference btw to the introduction of OS X and iOS. There were no blockbusters available at day one ;)

On day one I had Oceanhorn, Geometry Wars, Edge - as the developers allowed it, plus all my Asphalt progress came across from my iPad. Everything compatible showed up in the 'purchases' tab. I think developers have the option of enabling 'cross buy' or treating it as stand alone.

Moving in the right direction.

Debatable. Apple is so lazy when it comes to their AppStores. Discovery is total poop, and a "Top" list is the laziest, dumbest way they can improve it. It hurts the platform overall, because it twists the incentives for App development, which influences the quality and variety of apps we get.

The power of TVML ... Apple can dynamically update apps without pushing out a new version of the OS. I love it.

It's not TVML. Apple has been doing this for along time. The AppStore, like the iTunes Stores, is just a wrapper around HTML. It's a mobile website with extras.

Yesterday I went through ever app that began with the letters A-Z in search. I found nothing in particular that wasn't ~$10 that I wanted to test out. I'm going to wait for those when I can demo those titles at an Apple Store.

There's a lot of useless apps in the App Store already, but by far the most useless is the ride wait times for Disney theme park. I don't know why I'd want to see the weight times in my living room 1000 miles away. It's not like I can carry the Apple TV into the park, either.

Still no categories?

The App Store is bad enough with its ridiculously limited categories.

Truly, apps are dying, and Apple are to blame for making it so hard to find anything. We need subcategories and filters that are permanently on-screen. And we need to be able to demo all apps, regardless of price, even if only for 30 minutes.

I imagine we'll see Plex on the Top Free Apps list soon enough.

I kinda doubt it. Those that run their own Plex server aren't a huge bunch compared to the other 99% who see that as far too technical and get their streaming from Netflix, HBO, and want to just play games on the Apple TV.

They're waiting until there are enough apps to make categories. Right now many of them would be almost empty which would only highlight the lack of apps for the system. You'd be the same person complaining that it's a failure because of the empty categories.

PSA: The real official Plex app is free. Simplex is a third party paid application.

Back to the topic. It means that the App Store on the Apple TV is basically a giant webview, so Apple can update the layout of the App Store on the server side without the need to update the tvOS. Good. But the part which needs updating, namely the horrible experience of typing passwords, is still outstanding and most likely will require an update to the tvOS.

I listened to the Upgrade podcast today and the host mentioned that Apple's staff told him there won't be an update to the Remote app to support the ATV4. I guess Apple really wants you to use your Siri Remote.
Dear God, what are the masters of vertical integration smoking?

Sometimes I wonder if I had ever come to the Apple ecosystem if it had been like that always.

Doubt it somehow.

Apple insisted on having in-app purchases instead of demos. Look at the horrible state of software and gaming right now; it's Apple's fault.

I don't they'll be able to stuff it all back in the bottle with demos, but they need to give premium, paid-up-front apps a fighting chance over the freemium and subscription models.
