I have not had the remote disconnect issue. When I first set it up I did have a weird screen glitch, where the lower third of the screen would randomly flicker static. Here's the weird thing, it only happened while in menus or on screensaver, never while content was playing. I had it set up to match frame rate and dynamic range, and also output to 4K60fps which my TV supports. I had it directly going into a Denon receiver which also supported 4K60fps on, supposedly, all of it's HDMI inputs. Since I was being lazy, I initially hooked it up to the front HDMI input of the AVR because I didn't want to pull the receiver out of it's shelf (it's heavy). I was using a certified HDMI 2.0 cable (18Gbps) from Monoprice.
I realized the static glitch would go away if I set it to 4K30fps. But obviously I wasn't going to accept that, I bought this new ATV for 60fps. If I couldn't get it to resolve, the ATV was going back to Apple.
On a whim, I decided to buy a certified HDMI 2.1 cable from Amazon (only $12). When it arrived, I admit I made two changes, so I can't narrow down which fixed the issue. I replaced the cable with the newer one, and also pulled my receiver out of the cabinet and used a rear HDMI input. Then I re-set the ATV to output 4K60fps Dolby Vision again.
Flawless playback for dozens of hours ever since. It was either the better/higher cable bandwidth, or a flaky front HDMI input on my AVR.
