I lost my remote and got a new Apple TV HD to use the remote with my Apple TV 4K. The remote doesn’t seem to do anything. The instructions just say to hold it close and press any button on the remote and it will ask to pair on the TV. Am I missing anything? Nothing appears on the TV. I’ve charged the remote.

You cannot pair a new remote if there is a Siri Remote currently paired and that remote is turned on. That doesn't sound like your problem though, considering you lost the old one.

Try this, press and hold the "menu" or "back" button and the "volume up" button at the same time, hold your new Remote less than a foot away from your Apple TV while pressing. Make sure your Apple TV is on at the time that you're trying to pair it.

To finish the pairing, you might have to press a button on the remote if the TV prompts you to.

Let us know if this works for you.
