I received my new fourth generation Apple TV two days ago. I have an issue where when ever I try to access movies or TV shows through iTunes, The screen would load and then after about a second it would back out and go back to the main home screen. I have restarted the device, I have done a complete restore on the device, still the issue has not been resolved. Even if I ask Siri to find me a movie I click on that movie and it just goes back to the home screen. I exchanged the unit today at the Apple store and the new unit is doing the same thing. I am completely at a loss as to why it's doing this. I live in Canada and I'm connecting to the Canadian iTunes store. Is anyone else having this problem and if so have you found a solution? I have a genius appointment on Tuesday if I can't get it working but hopefully someone out there has some ideas for me. All of the other apps work fine. It's just movies and TV shows through iTunes.

Yes I have exactly this problem-with the rented movies from iTunes. I am in Switzerland. The Apple support are sending me a USB C cable so that I can reset the Apple TV using the PC.on iTunes. Not sure what the difference is to doing it direct on the Apple TV. And if that does not help then I want cash back.

Just to update my situation, I tried to work out the problem with Apple support. Unfortunately they were not able to resolve the issue. In the end I had to create a new Apple ID for my atv4. Now everything works fine. I have to say this is the buggiest Apple product release that I have ever experienced. It almost seems to me that they've pushed this product out before it was ready. I'm hoping as new updates of the operating system are released that the issue will work itself out and I can go back to using one Apple ID for everything as for now this is the best solution I could come up with.

Well I will try that with a new Apple ID but not really confident that it will solve the problem. Did you try to reset the Apple TV it on I tunes?
