In honor of Black History Month this February, Apple today unveiled a new Black Unity Collection, consisting of a special-edition Black Unity Sport Loop for the Apple Watch, a Unity Rhythm watch face, and matching iPhone and iPad wallpapers.

The new Black Unity Sport Loop is available to order today, and the watch face and wallpapers will be available in the upcoming iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and watchOS 11.3 software updates, according to the band's product page. The updates are expected to be released this week, following more than a month of beta testing.

Apple said the collection is "inspired by the rhythm of humanity," with Black creatives and allies at Apple collaborating on the designs.

"The collection, Unity Rhythm, weaves together the colors of the Pan-African flag: black, green, and red," added Apple's press release. "The Black Unity Sport Loop is woven in a custom pattern of raised and recessed loops that creates a lenticular effect, revealing green on one side of each loop, and red on the other."

The new Unity Rhythm watch face features "custom numerals formed by intertwined threads of red, green, and yellow." When a user raises their wrist to check the time, the abstract brush strokes seamlessly transform into digits.

The matching iPhone and iPad wallpapers feature the word "Unity" in the same custom lettering.

No one uses any of these wallpapers /faces. EVER. I’ve not once in the wild seen any of it. The virtue signaling is exhausting.

If apple wanted to truly cut down on waste they’d not make products no one buys. But for them it’s just the cost of keeping their ESG score high I guess.

I've seem them on an Apple Watch, with the matching band, a couple times.

The most annoying thing about Apple wallpapers and watch faces is you cannot remove any of the ones you do not want on your own personal device. Sure you can ignore whatever Apple preinstalls on their devices that cannot be removed, but why not give the owner of the device a choice on what they want on their phone/watch/iPad? I know, reasons...

Why does this type of post have to take such a definitive stance?

I genuinely use and like the Unity wallpaper and watch faces. I have bought a Unity braided loop band. I am considering buying the Unity Bloom sport band, too.

How convenient is watch face with only hands? Why not add markers. We have several watchfaces like and I don’t see them being used in the wild at all. I wonder why..

Because the survey size of popular claims that start with "no one", "everyone", "99%" and similar is usually limited to the person writing the claim... or in much more generous survey sizes, they and a couple of their friends.

Yesterday, I did not venture out of my home for big game day. I did not see one woman in person. Thus I proclaim today: there are no women in the world. Furthermore, I saw no other people. Thus I proclaim, there are no other humans in the world (I presume it is AI bots writing other posts in threads like this). Yesterday it was sunny, warm & clear where I am... so everyone enjoyed a nice, sunny & warm day everywhere. I have never been to China, so I proclaim that China does not exist. Etc.

When big claims are made on behalf of "everyone," better check the sample size. But 99% of people know this already. ;)

I think the country and the world are in serious trouble if simply mentioning “black unity” pushes the thread into political news

😵‍💫😦
I didn't realize it was "black unity"... I thought it was just "unity". Yikes. Guess I'll wait for the white unity band then, hopefully I can celebrate that one if males are included.

These campaign is just another indication of how these global advertising agencies and corporations
are going overboard with who is what..... and how can we exploit them!

personally, the design looks sharp but the graphic was hard to read at first.
and we need the LATEST software to use this graphic,
another  tactic to induce those who are on the 12th vine* to climb that walled garden some more.
