And an update re battery life: put the U2 on around 5:45, did my usual morning activities and after finishing 73 minutes of workout the battery showed 99%! On U1 the best I’ve seen was 97% after workout… still early data but very promising.

Also, I haven’t used Siri in many many years but used it to end the workout today (Siri end workout) as the addl “are you sure…” bugs me, so, I might use Siri a bit more going forward.

No, if you have partner you can hit her at night with watches. Or you can scratch it. It is unpractical.

You must be joking. On the end of your arm-thing is there something that has five bony-fleshy extensions? That’s a hand with fingers. I know it sounds crazy, but you can also use that to hit her at night too. Are you going to take that off?

I will have nothing to compare my coming U2 too. I stopped wearing wrist watches years ago, not really sure why. This will be my first and only Apple Watch. I mainly got the U2 for its battery life.

Finally got my ultra!! It’s amazing. I’ve worn it all day and, while it is noticeably larger, doesn’t fatigue my wrist or feel “off” at all. All other features aside, comparing this to a small 41mm, the improvement in the screen alone was worth the upgrade. The battery life, action button, flashlight strength and faster processing just icing on the cake for me.

what is on-device processing Siri?
The new chipset can process most Siri requests on the device, meaning it’s typically much faster than Siri always having to connect to the internet for language interpretation. iPhones/iPads have had it for a while.

I came from an AW5. Really like the larger screen. I have a button on the screen for Just Press Record. I’ve found that I accidentally activate it with this watch. I changed the placement to see if that helps.

It happened to me few times but there is big different when you hit your partner with your hand or with metal watches..

I have oura ring, sleeping with any watch is stupid.
It is a personal choice.
I looked at Oura but it is another device to charge and synchronise and potentially another subscription.
With my AW6 I never used it at night, but with my Ultra I wear it at night most of the time and have never really noticed it.

Would I wear my older mechanical watch at night no, defiitely not.
But my AWU is a smart device that gives me good info on sleep patterns and health data, it is not just a watch.

It comes down to what works for each individual.

People laugh but it’s a legitimate consideration. As as the one that if I’m wearing my ultra while I sleep ,one scrape of my wife’s diamond ring against the ultras screen will likely result in a nasty scratch

first full charge and I'm on 16% left after being off the charger for 46 hours. my Apple Watch ultra 1 on average lasted me about 40 hours under the same settings.

Well now I'm just imagining the world's smallest buckler to aid in fending off nightly ring attacks. :p

It is going to be interesting to see how the Apple Watch U2 works with my FiiO BTR5, and BTR7 BlueTooth DAC/Amp's. I have used them with my iPhones for years. I have either Etymotic ER4SR's or Shure SE-425's plugged into them.

No interest in upgrading my U1, but the battery improvement sounds like a nice little boost. Hopefully that’ll get even better each year.

For reference, my U1 currently after almost 48 hours.

Edit, to point out I know settings and notifications etc will impact usage. I’m more saying for my usage, I would see quite a good jump in battery life with an U2.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is my first Apple Watch, and the first wristwatch I have worn is several decades. I don't remember why I stopped wearing wrist watches but it happened. And when I started getting Apple iOS stuff they were sort of like a pocket watch. Anyway went through the Apple setup, very smooth as expected the Verizon setup was something of a pain must have been a huge run on setting up Apple stuff. All done now.

What amazed me is how natural this block of titanium feels on my left wrist. The Alpine Loop watchband is very comfortable. I got the watch with the small band that is what the wrist measurement told me to get. What I did not take into account was getting the watch on and off. The Small band is to tight to get off, and on comfortably. Because of all of the years I have used iPod Touches, iPad, and iPhones I was familiar with how the watch worked so that was not a big problem. Working through the different watch faces in fun. Did find out that the chronograph watch faces don't work very well at night with my post cataract surgery nearsightedness. I am just at the beginning of learning my way with this U2, it is the same as my iPhone I just have to learn were stuff is located on the small screen.

One thing that put love lights in my eyes this morning is when I sat down in front of my Mac Studio a text message popped up on its screen saying "Unlocked by Apple Watch".

As for the "only idiots wear a watch at night". Back in the day when I did wear wrist watches they were either ones with perpetual movements, or quarts watches with batteries that lasted at least for a couple of years. I never took these watches off. The ones with the perpetual movements were divers watches so I didn't even take them off when I was in water. I had the horographical version of a bikini line on my left wrist. I intend to do this with this Apple Watch taking it off only to charge it.

Oh and the FiiO BTR7. The Apple Watch paired up with it just fine. was listening to Audible books. It was OK but I am going to stick with the iPhone for audio books.

Just hit 3 days charge on my Ultra. I haven’t had AOD on as I don’t need it most of the time, unless I am running. Very happy with my Ultra 2.

Edited ot add. I made it 75hrs 10mins before I put it back on the charger with 20% left.

Just got a vibrating notice on the Apple Watch of a incoming reply to a posting I did on Patreon on the Mac Studio. I like this!!!!! I got my first taste of Apple integration between the iPhone and the Mac Studio, it continues and keeps getting better with this AWU2.

Now I am wondering about the AirPod Pro.
