While trying to fix a display bug on my 2.66 Mac Pro. I opted for an in home service by buying Applecare and having them send me a new video card. At the time I forgot to say I had a 23" ACD HD purchased at the same time June 13. When I phoned back right away to add the display I was refused permission to do so by Applecare Administration. Is it true that if you forget to mention the display purchased at the same time, you lose the right to have it covered by Applecare when you call back to add it a few minutes after the Applecare purchase?

I knew you had to add them at the same time but I didn't know it was that strict

I would call Apple back, and offer to fax/email them your proof of purchase, proving that you bought the ACD at the same time. I can't see them being that sticky if you have proof.

Wat next?

Wow how worse can Apple get right now?
They are at an all time low.

I Will Stage A Sit In At Apple World HQ If They Refuse To Add My ACD HD

When they transfered me to Applecare Administration - they were closed. If I don't get satisfaction tomorrow morning I am going to drive 30 miles to Cupertino and stage a sit in until I get satisfaction.

I am still in shock.

I can't imagine that they'd continue to refuse of you supply a receipt showing they were purchased together. That's the lone stipulation on the AppleCare page, provided you have registered them both.

They aren't supposed to once it's purchased, but have you registered it yet? Did they register it over the phone? Even if it is, I'm sure a manager or higher up can. I don't think the peons can. Strange that Administration didn't. Maybe they just didn't want to. Hate to say it, but sometimes phone care sucks, even through Apple.

I filled out my Applacare online. I had an issue were the system would not recognize the serial number of my ADC. Obviously I just finished it without the monitor and emailed them right away. I gave the lady the serial and she told me that she got it works, so I don't see as how they could be that strict.

That's ridiculous. Proof of purchase with ACD and Mac Pro together on the same receipt will be enough for them. Stop making assumptions before you talk to someone high up enough to do it for you. More likely than not it was a misunderstanding.

Also, I assume you will be escorted by security off the Apple Campus in Cupertino if you try to stage a sit in for a ridiculous reason. So really, stop wasting your time. There are better ways to get things done, and I'm sure you're aware of that.

But the pictures and movie he posts on MacRumors of them tazering him and dragging him off in shackles sure will be fun and interesting. :p

Wow. You have way too much free time. Considering you bought this stuff secondhand, its nice Apple even offers Applecare on it.

Actually, I'll be surprised if anyone even pays any attention. Unless he's screaming absurdities and he's half naked or something. :)

When I Called Back This Morning They Easily Added The Monitor

So I called back this morning and didn't tell the operator I was rejected from adding the monitor last night and he easily added it. Go figure.
