Does anyone’s new remote keep losing the connection? I have to re pair it 3-4 times a day. If so, how do I fix it? I have a genius bar appointment tomorrow, but would rather fix it myself.

thank you

I used to have some problems with the original Siri remote, but I found out it was due to my location of the Apple TV.

I kept it behind my TV, which is normally fine, but I think it was the big heavy metal wall mount for my TV that was interfering with the signal.

I moved it slightly and no more problems.

That could be what's happening to you, but it actually sounds like it might be something hardware related if you tried repairing it multiple times.

as juicy said, I have my aTV stuck in the frame behind and up against the TV. In one certain spot, the remote is very laggy, but moving the aTV a few inches clears it right up. My theory is that's where the TV's wifi/bluetooth/other electronics are located and interfere with the remote.

Thanks everyone, I have it sitting right on top of my tv. I tried moving it away from my tv and it still lost the connection. So I put it back.

The light on the Apple TV in the photo is on the right. Is it sitting sideways?

Same problem after software update. I returned and bought a new one, same issue happened after a day.

Very odd, once I switched out my Dolby Atmos sound bar. Everything started working like normal. I’m getting HDR10+ which I wasn’t before. I wonder if that was the reason why my 2021 AppleTV was so screwed up. That was the reason why I bought the new AppleTV.

I’m having the same issue. It’s done it only twice since it came on day 1 deliveries but my old unit never lost connection. Sure hope it isn’t the dreaded Bluetooth issues that Apple products are becoming known for (aka Mac mini).

It'll probably do it again. Mine did it again last night and would only work reliably about 2 feet from the box. So after pairing it again and a hard reset with no change, I returned it today and bought another. So far, so good.

Yes, this is happening. Mine is an AppleTV 4K 2022 128GB. The remote loses connection every about 3 days and only the short range Bluetooth antenna works (so you would have to approximate your remote to the box to use it). A soft restart (from the Settings app) fixes it, there is no need for power cycling; so hopefully this isn't a hardware issue.

Neither my new AppleTV4K nor its most recent predecessor AppleTV4k demonstrate any remote connection problems. Both units are behind the TV and one is further behind a wall in the next room. Both work very well. I do recharge each remote overnight about once a month.

Good. So it’s really a software issue that causes it to disconnect in our setups. Hopefully the new update brings a fix for this one too.

By the way, mine lost connection again and I tested: the AppleTV completely shuts off long range BT capabilities when this happens. Neither my AirPods Max nor my SteelSeries Nimbus controller connect. Also, the Remotes and Devices panel doesn’t find any Bluetooth device in the vicinity either. Restarting the box restores all behavior and then it works flawlessly until it disconnects again.

I am suspecting that the issue happens based on how much I’ve used the Bluetooth. For instance, when I watch several Dolby Atmos shows with my AirPods Max, it disconnects sooner. If I only use the remote, it takes longer to happen. It must be a daemon or the kext that hangs.

That’s an interesting finding, thanks for sharing and hope apple sees this

Strange. Happened to me twice today aka this evening With my new 128gb version.

Only a restart helped.

Yesterday I updated to the latest tvOS but didn’t have any issues then… maybe related maybe not. Been using the new TV for 7 days without any remote issue before today. Let’s see what happened.

Yes I'm not upgrading from the stock device as this is my replacement. I had the issue after I upgraded.

Both my USB-C remotes sometimes stop adjusting my TV’s sound volume.
The ATV’s so get a signal, since the light blinks. But nothing happens
