If you do photoshop a lot in the house, get a external 3.5" harddrive with firewire 800.

If you do photoshop on the road, get an external 2.5" harddrive with firwire 800.

You don't want to buy online? That could be a problem. Getting restore disks for an outdated OS in a store is anywhere between hard and impossible.

Actually the translation is the OP doesn't want to PAY online.

Note the OP is getting Transmission.

Yes, I might have to do the online buy...:apple:

going window shopping tomorrow

You can upgrade to 10.5. Leopard, I run it on my machine with similar specs too. Definitely up the ram to 2gb though, since you also want to run Photoshop CS3. 10.5 & CS3 on a G4 with 1 gb ram could be disappointing.

Thanks for the advice, hard-drive on my shopping list...however...

HUH?

well to make a bootable disc, it has to be a dual layer because its over 4 gb for a dvd.

of course if you have a external drive and you make a partition it works also.

AH!!! sorry another blonde movement!

I think it's being inferred that you'll download the apps illegally. Please don't. :)

Not that its anyones bizz;

I like to avoid purchasing anything online because:

1- I am an American living in Europe therefor I have a huge market to chose from; family and friends in the US can help me look for the best price there and same story for the rest of the world. As a matter of fact, one of my best friends its in Sydney ATM and looking for me there.

2- because of my business, I have being working with the security industry and involved on seminars for the security market, aka international police and the like. so I am a little more paranoid about making deals via internet, where I need to share my spec.

3- I believe that if I research and look around, I will be able to get a good deal without the need to involve my private information.

Example: the local Mac store its having a sale on hard drives, "themini oxygen 160GB FW+USB2.0" its on sale for 90 USD; haven´t yet check around in the US to see the equivalent, but it looks ok.

After upgrading my Mac and BUYING all that it´s need it I will not have time for more "mac software/hardware issues". So, I am trying to avoid any future needs by BUYING now all that I need.

I think the 160GB drive its too small and I am looking for a Sonnet Fusion F2 1TB or similar. Have also called Adobe (AS I already have the CS3 suit disks for my PC and an account with Adobe) they told me I can use and download the CS3 for my Mac without a problem. Nevertheless,I will get the external hard drive first...just in case..

Question - I have about 1000 music cds, would like to save some to my mac and the rest on the hard drive...its there a way to make this process less painful or do I have to do one by one?? ..

Anyway, thanks for all the help...I am sure that as soon as I start really using the Mac, I will have more questions...Have a great day! :)
