This is the first year that I won't be buying Apple Care for my iPhone.
Too expensive, on top of the already too expensive iPhone.

Traditionally, right before Apple Care expires I'd get my phone replaced.
The primary benefit being that I'd get a new battery after the 2 year mark.

If I were to do the same thing going in two years, how would I do so? AKA, does Apple offer out of warranty battery replacements in the Apple store?

Thanks

Which phone are you talking? Assuming iPhone X no AppleCare or carrier insurance out of warranty cost is $279, the screen is something in the $549 range if I remember right.

EDIT: I have my prices reversed. Screen is $279, everything else is $549

iPhone X.

So you're telling me if I want to get a new battery for my iPhone x later on down the road I will have to spend $549?

In 2 years there will be plenty of options for getting a new battery for the iPhone X. All the 3rd party repair places will have them. We'll see the iFixit teardown, but the battery replacement procedure probably will not have changed that much.

Edited my post, the screen repair out of warranty is $279. To replace internals such as the battery without insurance or AppleCare out of warranty cost is $549

It will not cost $549 to replace a battery.
If you buy the iPhone X, you might want to take the AppleCare+ offer seriously
  • A screen repair costs $279 on the iPhone X without AppleCare+, while "other damage" costs $549.
  • Those repair costs are a big leap from previous models — which makes sense, given that the iPhone X is a different form factor that includes a glass-covered chassis and OLED display.
  • An Apple Care+ plan keeps the phone covered for 2 years of support and repairs, with a $29 fee for screen damage and a $99 fee for other damage for up to two accidents.
maybe then $279?
