So I bought a new battery from ifixit. I got a local repair guy to check tristar etc all was fine. He installed it, checked on computer 100% health, zero cycles, 29xx capacity. It’s worse than my old battery, same usage I’m 10% worse. I’m off the charger 1 hr about 10 mins screen time I’m 89%, I’ll never last the day.

What’s gone wrong?

Third-party batteries are like that but there are different grades of battery. However, there are some high quality battery that are 1 to 1 ratio. Since you bought it from iFixit, their customer service are great so they can send you a replacement battery. I had two battery replacement from them within a year of purchase for two of my most oldest devices.

Here is a great video on battery from StrangeParts

Right guys. Now 9.30am if charger 3 hours, 60%. Never had an iPhone not make it through a work day but this isn’t gonna last, also the iPhone with the biggest battery I’ve owned.

Your battery seems too good for a X/8+

Which phone is this?

A brand new X with 100% health gives barely 3 hrs SOT by 60% reading. That’s assuming you’re not doing something overly intensive.

This is assuming you’re on iOS 12 I mean.

XS would probably give you 4+ hrs by 60%.

But X or older phones won’t really even get you to 3 hrs by 60%.

Update:

How much SOT were you getting on your old battery? What was the health?

Also, in my experience a new battery from a third party can only compete with a fully used and worn out old Apple battery.

So buying from Apple might have given you 20-30% better results. This is without knowing what you were getting then/now.

You need to answer this:

How much SOT were you getting on your old battery? What was the health? How many cycles had it gone through? How old was it?

7+. 3 hours of charger with about 20 mins screen time and I’m less than 50%

Do you mean 3 hr 20 mins screen time and you’re at 50%? That seems good.

Or 3 hrs standby with 20 mins screen time? Something is wrong!

How old was your battery?
How many cycles did it have?
What was the health as per Coconut Battery?
How much SOT were you getting?

The later

Most likely the phone has gone bad. Unlikely a defective battery would do this.

You need to put your old battery back and see what happens.

Was your old battery just 10% better than this?

What could be wrong. I have zero charge cycles. 100 health and full capacity according to coconut battery

I mean regarding your old official battery from Apple. Answer these questions for your official Apple battery.

My old battery at this stage of the day I’d be in the high 89s, now at 44 so this is 50% worse

That’s more like 1000% worse. Not 50% worse.

You need to put your old battery back and check this thing.
