Show me where the Lanyard edition is actually targeting "on the move". Hell, show me that the speaker is even on in the photos where it's being "shown off" by celebrities. Nobody mentions anything about what they were listening to, only that they were seen holding one.
On the move/on the go/moving about = can also mean not permanently placed. In the morning, I'm on the move, I bring my pill into the bathroom while I'm getting ready in there and then I move to the kitchen and I bring it with me. Why should I wear AirPods while I'm in my home while I'm on the move?
While I have encountered what you described by people on iPhones and Tablets, I have yet to encounter others behaving that way with BT speakers however you assume the worst primary use case just because now it has a lanyard? Seems like manufactured outrage/snark to me.
