New Bootcamp Update (4-24-08) for XP, Vista 32 & 64 bit

Just wanted to post that I had the 640x480 graphics issue which refused to go away (iMac 24, Core 2 Duo). I tried looking for the "latest Intel driver" which was referenced earlier in the thread to no avail.
What eventually fixed this was running the exact same installer again, with the same steps. Rebooted after the second installation and everything is kosher.

You must have had one of those 'bad', beta, unsigned video drivers installed. Apple fixed that for you. See;

Also, if you don't use Windows Updates often, I suggest that you do.
Does it say something along the lines of "No audio device detected?"

HA. If you're a gamer, you'll want a 64bit OS. Games nowadays are very demanding. 4 GB isn't what it used to be. And if you're going 64bit, your only option is Vista (even Microsoft lovers will admit XP 64-bit sucks). There is so much FUD about Vista, but the truth is since SP1 things have really been awesome (unlike Vista when it was pre-SP1). There is tons of support by developers for Vista x64, lot's of drivers, programs run just fine (the slowdown is like .000001%.) People get all panicy over losing 1 fps in Vista. "OH NOEZ I LOST 1 FPS IN VISTA!!1 OMG VISTA IS TEH SUKZORZ!!1!
People said this same crap when XP came out long ago, "I'll never go to XP, Windows 98 is just fine for me". You heard it first here, Vista x64 will be THE OS for gamers.

A couple of small corrections
EFI and PCI-E are unrelated and comparing the two is apples to something well out of the fruit category. The EFI is comperable to BIOS on the PC side, and plenty of PCs (especially high end ones) use EFI these days, not just Macs. Both Macs and PCs use PCI-E, which is a hardware expansion interface. If you were on a desktop machine you would be ready to go to install NVidia's base drivers.
Here's the catch: NVidia handed off the writing of laptop video card drivers to the laptop vendor. They don't write them anymore. It wasn't cost effective for them. So the only drivers you can use are those that Apple ships with boot camp.
One last thing that might help in the future. You're Mac's hardware is identical to a PC except for two bits of hardware, the EFI and an apple specific Trusted Platform Module (TPM). When running windows, the TMP is ignored completely and the EFI is emulating an old PC BIOS, so effectively, your Mac is just like any other PC, 100%. No different.

What memory problems? You mean only recognizing less than 4 gigs (typically a 3.2-3.5 gig range?). Vista 32-bit will now DISPLAY all 4 gigs, but it will still only use that 3.2-3.5 gigs of RAM. It's not a OS limitation, it's a hardware limitation. The only work around can cause driver problems and system instabilities. Go to Vista 64-bit if you want all your RAM used.

How is that a "known issue" then? That's like saying my VW Golf won't go beyond 200 mph because "it's a known issue". Get Vista 64-bit and all your problems will disappear. 32-bit is dead.
It uses more than 2gbs of RAM. Whatever Vista showed before SP1 is how much it will use post SP1. It's NOT an "issue." It's a software limitation imposed by the 32-bit architecture that affects ALL 32-bit OSes. The current work arounds hare bad hack jobs that can cause system instability. The only fix it to move to a 64-bit OS.
Good for you, I am so pleased! Some folks enjoy the bloatware of Vista. I didn't after 3 months of it and got rid of it to go back to Windows XP. All my of games old or new work again! 😉

How do old games not work in Vista? Even Oregon Trail works. Were you just as surprised that OS 9 games could not run under OS X too? Are you trying to run Vista on a system that's 9 years old or something? Did you try it pre-SP1? And please define "bloat". How is it any more "bloated" than OS X? (and don't tell me OS X isn't bloated, what with it's language and driver packs, which yes you can choose not to install, but that is the same case for Vista as well, so that point is moot).

If i replace the 32 bit vista with the 64bit edition-with clean install-all the hardware of my iMac-bluetooth,wireless,isight.....-will be work correctly in the 64bit vista?
The new update of bootcamp 2.1 64bit vista is for all iMac intel core 2 duo or only for the mac pro?????????

Same here on Vista 32bit. I think the reason for me is that I used and 2nd pre existing hard drive with vista already on it and not installed using the bootcamp utility. Even after expanding the two files with winrar, one does nothing and the other says no compatable software bla bla found . . .
Anyone shed any light on this scenario?
Wow this update screwed me big time.... I can't connect via wireless and its now slow as ever to start up into windows... Any ideas?

I updated to Boot Camp 2.1 and ever since, I have been getting freezes. 95% of the time everything is fine but every few minutes, every thing will just freeze, sound stutters, and the CPU pegs up to 100%. This lasts for 10-15 seconds at a time and then everything returns to normal.
Anyone else having this problem here? I googled and found a thread on the apple support pages about it but no answer yet given.
Any ideas??

Questions on iMac 7.1 Leopard and new boot camp w/Vista Premium
Sorry,maybe a newbie question, but I understand trying to accomplish installing this.exe on the Windows side, but one major misunderstanding about Bootcamp remains for me. (just started using Macs only 1 month ago). Doesn't my Leopard have that Boot Camp pre-installed on the OS X side (isn't Boot Camp an Apple program)? So, if I upgrade or install this Boot Camp upgrade on the Windows side, does it go and upgrade the Boot Camp files on the Mac side? I am preparing eventually to start using this Boot Camp, and was wondering, even if I do not use boot camp yet, whether I could upgrade it .? Reason I am asking is that I guess I might have to use Boot Camp soon,, because my Parallels seems to have screwed up on me because of Vista Premium SP1 , and now I have to consider preparing Boot Camp for eventual use.

On the Mac side, all BootCamp is, is a partitioner. It partitions (splits) the hard drive so that Windows can be installed. There's really nothing to update, unless they were to add features to the partitioner.
