Most audiophiles are after 'pure sound' i.e. no tonal controls or blockages in paths, chips and processors are bad but then they contradict themselves by using Vavles rather than transisters to create a warmer softer sound.

Most reviews are completely useless from my experience, the only True way to review a system is to hear it yourself. Everyone has different tastes when it comes to hifi or rather sound reproduction, some like it bassy, some like it warm.

I'd say take your ipod to a shop and ask them to demo the speakers with your ipod plugged in, that's what I do when shopping for hifi.

Personally these speakers suck to me, I like the sound from a proper system and thats what I have built, again my tastes are that Bose sound like most American or Japanese hifi, warm, loose bass and harsh treble. A lot of sony and pioneer stuff trying to make it into the big leagues have their kit re-tuned my british studios to try and get a piece of the high-end market.
