I don't know if anyone has seen or posted this yet, but this is new in 13.3. Custom resolutions in the settings—displays—advanced.

Yay!! I've been waiting for this feature for YEARS! So now I won't have to use third-party software to run my MacBook at its native resolution

I think the OP meant "custom" in the sense of not the four (or five) options that you'd normally get. So no, without third party software, you can't add custom resolutions.
And the third party software can only add custom timings on Intel Macs. BetterDisplay.app can add custom scaled modes (resolutions) but not custom timings.

Exactly. That is what I mean.

Can a user add custom timings?
I mean you have more options to customize your desired resolution that Apple lists. Prior you had a very limited selection.
