Does Apple release new drivers or firmware for their iMacs? Are we likely to see optimised drivers for the HD2600 Pro any time, or will they wait for Leopard, or will they ever release new drivers?

Rich 😎

Apples history with graphics and graphic drivers well ....sucks microturds. Perhaps after the new OS but I wouldnt plan anytime soon.

I expect the new drivers to be included with Leopard.

Bootcamp may become version 1.5 or version 2.0.

Driver and Firmware updates should be OS independent. So because i bought my iMac with Tiger i can't get upgraded drivers?...makes no sense.

That said the drivers will probably be in the pipeline for release soon just like the MacBook Pros

My vote is with the release of Leopard.. You can bet they won't forget about us.. Lest they be constantly reminded.. 😀

My guess is the new drivers will be included in the 10.4.11 Tiger update due out within the next two weeks.

Blame ATI. They should have drivers available to download from their site, but don't.

There's been many times in the past where a point release has updated graphics performance, either through drivers or OpenGL library improvements, or most likely both. I think it's not to far fetched to think that 10.4.11 will have something, even if it's just stability improvements, for the new iMacs GPUs, and that 10.5 will see improvements in the OpenGL frameworks that benefits the 2400/2600 chips.

Did anyone else see that article about ati linux drivers? I posted it in another thread.
