Do you guys think they will ship new earphones with the iPhone 6S?

Don't think so this is just a 'S' release. The earbuds now are quite good for coming with a phone. I do think there will be new kind of earphones with the iPhone 7 in 1 year.

I definitely think that the normal Apple Earpods will come with the phone. A "swap them out for beats at a discount rate" program wouldn't be unreasonable though, whether that will come now or on a later model though I wouldn't like to guess if it comes at all.

I'd certainly be interested in the wireless in-ear ones if that were the case.

I doubt Apple will ever include Beats headphones with the phone. Traditionally the headphones included with most devices are usually cheap and basically just functional. Besides Apple knows they can make more money selling a brand like Beats as an optional extra.

Apple won't bundle Beats with the phone.

They want to keep the Beats brand as a mid-range headphone product - attaching the brand to cheap bundled headphones damages the prestige around the Beats brand and devalues the name in the public eye, Apple's idea ideally being you upgrade from the boxed headphones to the sold-separately Beats headphones.

Beats would be severely devalued if included. Makes no sense.

I am hoping for a pair of Bluetooth EarPods with the 7 though.

Isn't the price for beats products like a couple of hundred (and up)? Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

They have just given away free Beats Solo wired headphones (or wireless for £100) with purchases of MacBook on the annual Back to School/Uni promotion via the educational discount programme so am not sure you can argue that they wouldn't give away for risk of devaluing the brand. However I do think it is very unlikely they would give away for free with the new iPhone.

A bundled deal with a discount is more likely and would be fantastic but would also put me in real quandry as I am not planning to buy direct from Apple this year (am in the UK and really need to buy on contract which you cannot do via Apple - only pay as you go or sim free).

That said my money would be on no deal but thanks for getting my hopes up!

They gave the Beats Solo 2 away because in the past they would give out i.e. $200 gift cards. With the Beats they give out a "$200 value" that costs them very little in comparison to past BTS promos.

Very true - although you could also argue that if most students were spending that $200 gift card on apple branded merchandise/services in the past it isn't much difference in cost to Apple.

Either way its a good deal for students and I was kicking myself that I forgot about this promo when I ordered the new retina 12" macbook a few months ago. I work in education and am also studying p/t so could have got the headphones (and would have happily waited as the MacBook was not really needed until my course resumes at end of Sept).........but at least I still got a good discount!

A $200 Apple Store gift card or even an iTunes gift card would cost Apple a lot more. Not even iPods have as great of a profit margin as Beats. I.e. $140 cost for the iTunes gift card after Apple's payout to content providers.

Would you like EarPods with different colors?
Like silver, space grey and gold.
I like my EarPods and I have a silver iPhone, but I'd really like them to be black if I went for the space grey model with black bezel

I think we are dreaming now!! They have always been white even where there has not been a white iPhone.

Because to keep the margins per iPhone unit the bundled headphones would be cheapy, in ear style headphones with poor sound quality like we currently receive - attaching the Beats brand to those would devalue the brand and how the market perceives 'Beats Quality'.

Bundling accessories is fine as long as they keep the 'prestige' around them, hence why the back to school promotion is fine - the Beats Solo headphones are still as valuable and are of the same quality beforehand.

That said I'm not a fan of Beats headphones anyway, uncomfortable and way too heavy-handed with the lower frequencies to be enjoyable.

The Solo2 and urbeats already come in silver gold and space gray. That's the closest thing i think.

I agree with most of the comments here that it would devalue beats brand so i guess apple wont do it

IF this ever happens, they'd probably make a new budget line of 'Beats for iPhone', rather than give out an existing model.

I was thinking about the urBeats colours applied to the EarPods.
I don't think they'll sell Beats headsets, I'd only like to see the EarPods in different colours

To be fair, when HTC had control over the Beats brand, they bundled Beats earbuds with all HTC devices.

They were a custom pair made for that phone (and thereby most likely cheaper than any other pair), but they did it.

I don't think Apple will include a RETAIL pair of Beats, but I can see a custom upgrade of EarPods with "Beats engineering" or some kind of codeword like that.

Possibly that could be the case. That said I don't think Apple has any need to capitalise on the Beats name to sell iPhones. If they included headphones that had any remnants of Beats technology and especially if they used the Beats name they would likely be cannibalising the sales of Beats headphones. Also I could be mistaken but I don't think HTC ever had control of the Beats brand but just licensed it.

HTC was a majority shareholder after Monster's contract ended with Beats for a 50.1% share. They reduced it to 25% in 2012 before selling their shares completely the following year. While it may not have been a full takeover, like Apple's purchase, it did give them entire control.

Ahh right. Did not know that.

That was back when Beats was spreading itself thin with marketing deals. Plus HTC likely paid a decent bit for that just to add interest to its phones, which Apple doesn't need.

Oh no, I agree (though HTC paid $330 million compared to Apple's $2 billion), i'm just saying its not like it would be something that hasn't happened.
