Well, you, my friend, are not a man either if you don't think Paris Hilton is hot - all her personality issues aside of course. But I mean, whatever floats your boat :)

But yes, bluetooth would be great - GPS is all I want.

You mean the Bride of Skeletor?

I prefer healthy women with curves ;) Give me Scarlett Johansson, Shakira, Jessica Alba (pre-child), Selma Hayek in From Dusk til Dawn (not now), Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera (pre-child with the ogre she calls her husband), almost any well fed Japanese girl. I could spend all night listing healthy women that look better than the Bride of Skeletor and her boyish face.

True, and in taking so long to think up a response you've been disqualified.

Have a nice day! ;)

Translated: "I got owned" ;)

Now you have a nice day.

You know, some of us are busy with things offline. There are more important things to life than talking about the universally accepted fact that Bluetooth audio is downright horrible and worse than late 90s MP3 quality.

Edit: And why would you spend $200 on a stupid dock with 3" speakers? For $200 you can get yourself a nice little amp with some bookshelf speakers that will blow away any sort of media player dock. Sure theres no "convenience" of Bluetooth, but you at least get QUALITY.

What, are you serious? She's absolutely hideous! She resembles beastly anorexic man, and that's just making light of the situation. I've always found her to be extremely unattractive. If you want to judge a man's manliness on who he find attractive, take a look at Megan Fox, and if you can tell me you don't find her attractive, I question your sexual orientation.

Megan Fox is definitely hot. Shame she has so many tattoos though. :(

with you on the head phones

i think thats the main reason im holding off on buying a ipod....the cans. theyre terrible, and therefore i need an additional 60-70 quid atop the price of the touch to factor in a good set of cans.

i do have some Shure E2C's and while they are good, i think ive completely out grown in-ear designs, theyre just not comfortable anymore. the Shure's despite sounding excellent (once u worn them in mind) cant be worn for more than 30mins without them beginning to get uncomfortable.

i for one would like to see a nice set of tethered, over the ear head phones, like the Grado SR60's

It all makes sense now. You're a mac os x fanboy, living in that universe. I bow to your superioddity. I'm praying that you never trip over or get strangled by an audio cable. The Force will be with you always, Obi Wan. :)

Disk mode-for storing data, songs/videos/apps/photos will be transferred via iTunes as always
Better earphones-can't Apple include and design a better earphone for the touch-perhaps a premium IEM.
Bluetooth-for streaming to headphones (eg. Sony DR-BT21/22IK but you wouldn't need the BT adaptor anymore).
White model

Shhhhh... Don't mention bluetooth outloud. ;)

im pretty sure the next ipod will come with a laser pointer and an espresso maker.
I'm not much for coffee, but laser's are cheap! Instead of pointing, how about optical audio output over laser to a receiver plugged into your 5.1 amp? Wireless 5.1. ;)

Just a thought exercise.

First post, been lurking a while, and wanted to just add my own opinions.
Some features I think that are realistic for a new iPod
  • better battery
  • external speakers
  • physical buttons
  • newer colors/design
  • Battery because... the battery on the current iPod Touch is lacking compared to the iPhone. the iPhone has more features (it's always connected to a cellular tower), you would expect maybe... shorter battery life, especially when it comes to play music, vs the battery life of a "more" dedicated media player like the iPod Touch, but there's a 9 hour difference in just playing music alone on both devices. So maybe a battery refresh to keep it on par with the iPhone's battery. I think this is the most likely refresh we'll see.
  • Speakers, because this iPod has Youtube. The strength behind Youtube I think is sharing videos with friends, and it's really hard to do that when you're friends can't all hear the video at once. I think another difference from previous iPods are apps. Not all of us are using the iPod Touch just for music and other media, some will use it more as an internet tablet, or as a PDA. I know when I use AIM I wish I had speakers so I can hear new messages. Also with the new firmware coming out with the new APIs for Push Notifications for 3rd parties, I think having speakers would be something nice. The little piezo disk sounds very choppy (it is by nature I suppose), and I don't know if this is hardware related, it seems the keyboard lags so much with sounds on the iPod Touch, vs the iPhone (father has an iPhone and it doesn't lag for the sound effect to kick in). However, following previous iPods this is more on the iffy side of things.
  • Buttons, because as others have said, it's hard to control this iPod without pulling it out to look at it. The short cut of double tapping home is nice, but maybe some buttons for play back control? I think Apple is avoiding putting buttons, but this is a portable media player so I think some playback controls are in needed. On the fence about this one though.
  • It seems like another "feature" that might have been left out are additional colors. I can see this differentiating the iPod Touch from the iPhone, where the iPhone would have black and white on premium models, maybe the iPod Touch would have more colors like previous iPods had, like the black area around the display or the back of iPod Touch similar to what the iPhone has going... cept, maybe avoid using plastic... just use an aluminum finish like the front of the other iPods. Also the iPhone went through a minor design change (the back and other smaller things), so the iPod Touch might be receiving some minor detailing as well. I think this is likely, it would differentiate from previous iPod Touches, how the iPhone 3G differentiates from the previous iPhone.
Some features that would be really nice, but not really likely, but probable?
  • Camera
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • Including a Camera would make the iPod compete with other digital cameras to some degree. Putting in a slipshod quality camera in the iPod would I think not agree with how Apple does business. Especially since the Camera app is really mediocre right now; no zoom or flash. Understandable for the iPhone since there are camera phones, but the iPod, there aren't that many pmp's with cameras.
  • GPS simply because the Map app requires an active connection to data. I don't think Apple would include hardware GPS for the sake of the 3rd parties like TomTom and Navteq. Would throw the iPod Touch into the GPS category as well, and I think Apple would rather make it's own dedicated GPS than just include a GPS that doesn't work well. From what I understnad GPS on the iPhone works so well because it's A-GPS, where the only additional help a GPS would recieve in an iPod is from wifi, which isn't as abundant as cellular towers.
  • Bluetooth, because there are many people with bluetooth headphones, enough said. If they included bluetooth, it would just be for stereo headphones only though, probably no data transfer between bluetooth devices, similar how the iPhone is locked for only bluetooth headsets. It would only be stereo headphones too, making headsets work with it would allow VoIP, which would probably take away some iPhone sales, but seeing how Apple doesn't make money off the plan contract anymore, it's possible they wouldn't care, doubt it though.

Things I wouldn't expect
  • Disk Storage (they would have to enable this on the iPhone, which would make hacking the iPhone a lot easier, and I think they wouldn't do that (even though it seems the iPhone is pretty easily hacked). Would also make messing up your iPhone easier for consumers that have no idea what they're doing but are poking around for some odd reason. I don't think Apple wants to introduce anything that average consumers might mess up, and then they would have to replace/fix.)
  • "Nano/Mini" (because making the screen smaller would mean all the apps in the app store wouldn't work right because of resolution. Cutting off parts on the Touch wouldn't really make it much smaller perhaps. If anything the current Nano's would be replaced with super high capacity, that they wouldn't even bother making classic iPod anymore, since the Nanos are just like smaller versions of the iPod Classic, and the only thing I can think of that would make a person get a Classic over a Nano is the capacity. Boost the capacity of the Nano to Classic standards, move out the Classic model, replace with the Touch model; "Nano Classic?" Nano models are also easier for portability, so that would also make sense not to include buttons in the Touch, since the touch is bigger, it's natural to pull it out and just set it somewhere while you listen to music.)
  • Design (don't think we'd see some radical design, maybe new colors, and minor changes, but I don't think we'll see anything drastric, former iPods follow this, they only recieve minor details, but keep the overall design (we still have that touch wheel thing)).
  • FM Radio (seeing how Appl now has patents for streaming your iTunes library anywhere wifi is, this pretty much would kill the idea of an FM radio for Apple. I'd love to have one, but with that patent out there now I really think it isn't likely at all, espcially since past iPods haven't recieved em yet. Perhaps when HD Radio is out and about everywhere, they'll include it.)

Just things I wanted to get out there, also just opinions. :)
