New Final Cut Express coming?

Since Studio3 is out, when can we expect a new express release? Any word on that?

No word yet, but I think the Express versions of Logic and Studio usually lag 4 or 5 months behind the full versions.

Yeah, they usually follow by 4-6 months. Just in time for Christmas.

Considering the quite small upgrade to the Final Cut part of the suite for consumers (basically: better markers, better speed controls, what else...)

I think it might be a point update instead of a full paid update, well hopefully!

We shall see in the run up to christmas!

Most of the Final Cut Pro 7's new features are pro centric so I don't see many of its new features coming down to FCE 5. Possibly export (easier UI and background processing) and import (automatic transfer workflow and log & transfer improvements).

And I anticipate some of FCP 6's features trickling down to FCE 5, such as SmoothCam and Batch Capture.
