This thing is so incredibally fake it's not even funny. Someone chopped of the back of an iMac and stuck a flat panal display on it. Duh.

I completely agree. If you've ever read anything about the development of the NeXT platform you'd know jobs is beside himself about cosmetics.

Well, the picture clearly shows a curved screen. Not exactly likely to be a 'flat' monitor of any sort.

Why do people keep begging for 16MB video in desktops? The last run of iMacs have 16 and PowerMacs have 32.

Flat-panel iMac

At least the creator of this image could have faked a background to make it look like a 'spy photo.' The rear foot is ripped directly of a studio display. Let's all thank Apple for painstakingly uniform product angles so that a novice photoshop user could waste our time.

Patience is a virtue. Two more days.

There is NO way a CRT would fit in that mock up! NO WAY, NO HOW!

LCD iMacs are coming on Wednesday. WATCH OUT!

While I agree that this particular image is probably a fake, (and way too front-heavy) I think the idea has something going for it.

Specifically, I think that this type of design is very plausible. It's tight, but there's just enough space in there for a short-neck CRT and the CD-ROM(/whatever) drive. Fitting the motherboard around those two is trivial -- have you seen the size of Apple's recent mobos?

It also fits with all the rumors -- not an LCD iMac, but close in concept. After all, I don't think most people are about LCDs per se as much as they are about the space savings and "coolness" that they provide. This provides the best of both worlds -- uncannily slim, but still affordable.

doesn't look like an lcd screen to me. Unless its a new convexed on to made to look like a crt display!!!

Re: IDENTICAL

You're right... It's obviously (and positively) taken from that flower iMac image. It's, therefore, a fake.

Somewhat dissapointing. (Tho all I care about personally is a new G4 tower!!)
