Well, that makes it a bit simpler. If you need the extra 10-15% more than the vacation then go for the 1.42. If not, I highly suggest the Caymans--very nice this time of year.

It's all about priorities, really. Myself, I'm getting solid hardwood floors instead of "engineered" material instead of the 1.42...

I hear that!

I've just emailed to cancel the order. It's at the "being assembled" stage so I hope it's not too late. I wont be too bothered if it isn't cancelable, but I've given it a shot.

Cheers for your wisdom.

The 1.42 I have on order (minus superdrive, and with GeForce4MX) is costing £1,686 + £75.00 (RAM) = £1,761. Shipping 4-6 weeks.

The 1.25 I would get would be £1,397.00 (with BTO 120GB HDD, no Modem, GeForce4MX) + £113 (ext. ordered RAM) = £1,510. Shipping in 5-7 days.

Does anyone think that £250 for a faster processor and bigger L3 is worth it?

I am typing this on my new 1.25MHz G4, with 20inch Apple Cinema Display. Let me just say this thing flies!

I had placed the order from the UK Apple store. I gave them a call on Thursday morning to see where my mac was, they said "sorry, there is a component shortage..bla...bla.....It will be about 2 weeks now for delivery". So I cancelled the order with Apple, ordered from Cancom and it arrived the next day:D

As others have said, dont order RAM from Apple as it's far to expensive. Have a look at www.crucial.com, RAM is very cost effective there.

That was the stage my order was at and they cancelled with no problem. Just one thing to note is they will have already ear marked the money from your credit card. You must ask them to cancel the transaction with Apple. I had the problem where my credit was refused due to Apple not re-crediting my card.

Hope that advice saves you a little stress!

Apple will be pissed off with me, I wrote them asking to cancel my cancellation. I thought 'what the hell' - I'll wait for the 1.42 to arrive - I got £400 off the proper price and I've already ordered Crucial RAM whom I always use.

He's to waiting!!
