was going to take some pics today of the sign but forgot my mobile. Its just the apple sign at the moment above the main door.
was talking to a guy who was working there and he said there working non-stop to have it ready.
I work in Queen Street train station so it's a minute walk.
do they have special promotions on for opening day? The first 1500 in are getting an apple t-shirt and there giveaways of a mac book and stuff like that.
I know there's always a big crowd for store openings but not sure about Glasgow don't want to turn up to early.

I might come through, actually. How early do you think you would have to be there to be in the first 1500?

time

I can't see it being that busy, I'm planning in being there for 8am.
I hoping(praying) there might be an iphone there to have a play with!

I'm in Scotland this weekend too and Mum's planning a trip to Glasgow for us to do some shopping. Hmm... I wonder how early she wants to go through.

Ooh, I just looked and there's a train that gets in at 7.30am. Is that a bit sad? :p Surely even being there for 8.30-9 you'd be in the first 1500 though, wouldn't you?

It's a flagship store, rather than a small branch, so probably the night before. I would not fancy it, though, with the weather we have been having.

Really? Bloody hell. Yeah, it's cold already, it would be pretty bad all night. Free t-shirts to the first 1500 who survive the night! :p

Oh wow! Next week! Man.. i've been waiting for this store to open for AGES. I'll be getting up at 6 for this! I want one of those t-shirts! :D:D:D

EDIT: Will there really be that many people there? o_o

I don't think you'll have 1500 by 9am but you never know.

When Regent St opened, it was highly amusing to those of us at the front of the queue to watch the looks of astonishment and horror when people started getting out of cabs around 6.30am obviously assuming they'd be early - only to find that there were already 2000 people ahead of them :p

i don't think apple has that big a fan base in scotland, i can't see there being thousands there. i hope i'm wrong though!

Whilst am so glad this store is now finally opening, have to be honest - queuing up for a free T is a little bit too fanboyist imho. 2000 people queued for Regent Street largely down to the goodie bag.

You can enter the prize draw any time up until the 27th.

Yes, I am definitely going to the Store on saturday, but getting out of bed early in the morning just to get a free T; not for me.

managed to get a look in today, seen loads of imacs, genius bar I think and also seen the staff with their black uniforms.
getting close.
am I sad or just an excited mac man?

Might head in on mon, but unfortunately sat coincides with an annual drinkfest and can't be missed!

Aside from the usual giveaway stuff and competition, do they ever have any opening discounts?, i'm thinking about getting me an imac / MBP but trying to resist until Nov!

Was in Glasgow City Centre today and I passed the Apple Store that is going to be opening on Saturday 25th August at 9am!

They have the Apple up!

I'm planning to go with a friend on Saturday morning, perhaps even queue!

can sum1 post photies of the inside of the store at the w/end plz?

wanna see if its worth the trip down to the Big Thrapple... :p

Glasgow store set to open on the 25th August now.

They should have chosen Edinburgh - it is the Scottish capital and has a much higher population* than Glasgow.

Most of the folk in Glasgow can't even afford proper housing, how they heck are they going to afford a Mac?! Come on Steve...you shoulda chosen Edinburgh!

*neds don't count

Interesting thoughts... lacking in any real substance of course.
Apple make decisions to locate based on sound commercial information.

Why not have a quick look at this Scotsman article http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=986122002

Details of the political decisions made in Edinburgh from the mid 50's to the early 2000's to destroy Glasgow... morons like you should keep your gobs shut.

Edinburgh is full of 'toffs', i.e. people who want to be posh, but who the posh people can't stand.

Glasgow was the perfect choice. Glasgow should also be made the capital, but thats besides the point.

Yeah, but those are the only 3 good things in Glasgow and possibly the whole of Scotland...

Joke, of course, pinch of salt maybe...

;) :p

I don't think it's a question of people being touchy, or being easily offended, or not understanding the basic ellements of humour. I think it's more to do with your astounding lack of self awareness.

If your intention is to offend then you are effective. More importantly why do you want to offend? Are you in some way innaderquate?

Apparently so.
