Anyone using it? I know BETA but for me it’s really unreliable and therefore annoying, I had to turn it off.

For instance, every time I ride my bike it thinks I am washing my hands yet when I do wash my hands, it takes too long to recognize so 20 seconds can become a minute or it’s saying I should continue washing while I actually am. Figured it’s not worth the potential hit on the battery and turned it off..

at the end of the day I know how long I am washing / should be washing my hands anyway

The feature on my Apple Watch 5 has been working quite flawlessly. Once in awhile when I’m doing dishes it’ll think I’m washing my hands but it doesn’t respring or anything when enabled.

I would think that this app would be on the watch as soon as possible now covid is so raging. Should have been on this update 6.2.8

that's not my point. I just think that if You launch such an app because of Covid You want to get it out asap

Pointless feature, imo. I have a Series 3 so I thankfully don't have to worry about this. It may be fun to try once or twice and then turn it off. I think Apple did it more for marketing, so they could be the "good guys" in a time like this.

I can time how long I wash my own hands, I don't need a watch doing that for me.

Sorry Apple, hard pass from me. :)

A slow day at Apple when someone has to be told that 20 seconds are up when washing their hands. Thanks Tim I know when time is up.
People with learning disabilities and other impairments can benefit from the feature. It can also help a child get into a good habit. There are lots of ways this app can benefit a lot of different segments of society.

There was no slow news day.

Thinking beyond yourself helps to see the overall intention.

To be honest (and I am aware it's likely an unpopular opinion) if there's some neccessity that an app has to be baked in to teach people something that should have been common sense by now (washing your hands) then something is seriously wrong with our species and it's not likely to be rectified via a watch app being forced on us.

We've made it as a species for thousands if not millions of years, we've survived Cholera, Black Death, Swine Flu, Mad Cow Disease, Y2K, Dysentery, West Nile, Zika, etc and we are seriously scared of some virus that you have to be tested to know you've even got it?! Where's Rod Serling when you need him?

Tried it once, thought it was pants, so switched it off. Is it really that hard to know how long to wash your hands for?

Bruh ... if I told you what I saw at a former corporation I worked for in the company bathroom by an older gent ... you'd agree with me the fact he DID NOT wash his hands was appalling. Also you'd agree with my outburst saying "Dirty! Didn't your momma not tell you to wash your hands" out loud he was embarrassed enough to come right back to wash his hands immediately. Funny enough he was smart enough not to mention it to HR as that would mean he violated health of everyone else in the office. Plus I'd revoke his access card too for being dirty goof.

Trust me you'd be amazed how many people do NOT know how to properly wash their hands ... that's one reason this disease spread so fast and why an app was made in the first place. It's sad really as Apple Watches are mostly worn by adults and adolescents ... so why would Apple feel the need to treat customers as toddlers. When you get it upside the head as a toddler 1 time for too many times not washing your hands properly coming from outside before dinner you'd never ever make that mistake again in your grown life ;)

While I fully agree someone is seriously wrong with us as a species to have tech teach us how to wash our hands, you may find many cultures across the globe don't even cover their mouths when they sneeze/cough. odd really.

And although as a specifies we've evaded Cholera, Black Death, Swine Flu, Mad Cow Disease, Y2K, Dysentery, West Nile, Zika ... many of us alive did NOT and would not survive it if we've been infected and a week has passed before being diagnosed. 'Survived' isn't quite right as many of us never came in contact with those diseases in our lifetimes. We survived due to not being in contact and medical experts worked on vaccines or methods to reduce spread ... or army just separated the infected from the healthy and left to die (Black Death).

to rebuttal against your meme .. imagine previous diseases you've mentioned so dangerous you had to see the symptoms to know the reasons someone was so sick is because they're about to die.
