Hi all,
I was planning to have a 250GB harddrive installed into my 2.2 MBP, but had a few questions about the process. I currently have a 120GB harddrive with a 25 gig bootcamp partition. Anyway, they want to charge me $55 to install the new drive, which doesn't seem so bad. The problem is that they want me to pay $50 to transfer my OSX data, and another $100 for the bootcamp partition, which seems excessive. So my question is, do I have any hope of being able to transfer my OSX and bootcamp partitions to the new drives myself, or should I just fork over the $150? I have a 120Gb usb external harddrive, if that helps. Thanks for any replies in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like I will have to convert to NTFS using the command line.. it sounds easy enough, I guess I'll try and back up any critical files first. As for the drive, do you know if either of these would work? I dont know the difference between ATA6 and ATA150...

The price seems right on these drives... or should I get something different?

Thanks again....

I know the ATA150 will work,my drive is the next one up the 320GB,there
good drives. If you do the swap yourself just make sure you keep on eye
on where all the screws go,take your time and keep grounding yourself

If you do Final Cut or rendering then a 7200 might be a better option
if not stick with the 5400
