Hi there, I was looking for a little bit of help, tomorrow I am most likely going to be swopping over the hard drive in my mac, the issue is I have pretty much no clue (software wise) what I am doing. I know how to swop the drive over etc but I am unsure when it comes to re installing the operating system.

I am going to do a complete fresh re install I have the documents I want and need to keep on my external drive but i would prefer to do a fresh job. Do i need to do anything special with the new drive? or can somebody point me to some sort of guide when it comes to the steps I will need to take.

    Thanks

All you really need is the original installed DVD that came with your Mac or a copy of Leopard/Tiger - when you boot up for the first time w/ your new Hard Drive installed, hold down CTRL+C and it'll boot to the DVD and walk you through the rest of the process.
