new HD - formatting it to HFS+

I'm going to be putting a new 320GB Western Digital hard drive into my macbook. I'm sure the drive will not come HFS+ formatted.

Will the restore disk that came with my macbook format the disk for me?

Yes, when you boot off of the restore disk, open Disk Utility from the utilities menu. You can format it there.
