So I bought new 320gb HDD for my macbook, the problem is my restore disk isnt where I seem to remember putting it. Assuming I cant find it, is there anything I can short of buying a copy of leopard? Any chance apple would give me another one?

Apple will normally sell you replacement restore disks via AppleCare (not in store I don't think). Or if you get a USB enclosure for the drive you could clone your existing drive over using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. Then you could use your existing drive in the USB enclosure as a portable hard drive...

yeah because you replaced your hard drive yourself apple stores arent going to be able to do much for you. applecare should be able to send you another copy. worse case you can just buy another copy of os x. or borrow it from a buddy.
