Been using my iPhone 7 for a few hours now and honestly it's already starting to annoy my thumb, to the point that I now feel flashes of pain in the hand.

It just feels so awkward to press on solid glass even though you got the new haptic engine.

Maybe it takes a while to get used to? I'm sure others will notice this.

How about you?

But seriously, you are just getting used to something new. Muscle memory has to adjust from something so ingrained like pushing the home button. We always experience these kinds of things with dramatic transitions.
[doublepost=1474039036][/doublepost]People that never wore a watch before, or hadn't in years, commonly complained of sore wrist after the first day of wearing Apple Watch. That immediately went away as days went on and bodies adjusted naturally to the new thing.

where can I adjust the settings for the taptic engine home button? I cant find it and change it after the initial setup when I unboxed the new iPhone

Settings --> General --> Home Button

Also, the new home button is AHMAZING! Love it! I have mine set to 3 and it feels perfect.

Honestly, I'd rather not use any force at all, they could of gotten rid of the button all-together. Maybe this will be tweakable with a jailbreak though.

It would be good if JB gave you a Zero setting.

Then would be no different from what I have now JB with VirtualHome tweak.

It's great, I think.

Just a thought...now that home button is virtual, this means then that "polling" is done 100% of the time, I presume.

Granted, the battery is bigger this year, but to be able to virtualize the button and extend battery life is a big deal.

I give Apple props.

I love the new homebutton. It hated the mechanical ones since the iPhone 3G. The solid state button is one of the best feature of the new iPhone generation.
People keep liking to refer to it as solid state, but I can't help but think that it can still break if the Taptic Engine—which is not solid state—ends up breaking. I know on my year old 6s it feels weaker over time.

So how does it feel compared to a normal home button? What feedback level do you have it set to? I hear a lot of people like the highest setting. I wonder how that impacts battery life?

You don't have to press hard at all - not even as hard as the old home button. I go back and forth between my 7+ and my iPad Air 2, and now the iPad home button feels weird!

I also hated the new home button when i first got it, and I initially was pressing long and hard with my thumb to the point where it was cramping up and hurting because I couldn't tell if it was working or not. I also got annoyed, but then changed to level 3. That level feels more like the iphone 6 button, and i can tell i'm pressing it. Hope that works, it worked for me.

I find the new home button to be my favorite feature on my 7+.

Try not pressing so hard. Just place you finger on the home button and apply just enough pressure to get it to work.

All I can think is that you are pressing too hard if it is causing your pain.

"Painful"? Well, I believe you when you say you're struggling with the button and luckily you chose not to exaggerate the problem with a ridiculous comment...

No, I can't continue typing that without laughing. This is the dumbest thing I've seen on this forum since "iPhone 3GS is better than the iphone 7".
